only four pieces of pie for five people,
promptly announces she never did care for
pie." -Tenneva Jordan
From My Mom
Being A Mother Is:
A Miracle like nothing else. A bond that can't be broken. It teaches patience. It's a love so deep it can't be described. It gives life meaning. It means never sleeping through the night for the rest of your life. It adds hours to our prayer time. It is hopes & dreams. I can't imagine my life without every one of my amazing children.
I have always wanted to be a mother. I can’t remember a time when becoming a mother was not my number one goal in life. I have always thought and felt that being a mother was what I was meant to be. However, when Lauren asked me what it means to me to be a mother and I sat down to write this, I realized I have never really thought about what it means to me to be a mother. If Lauren would have asked me this questions before I had Ryder I think my answer would’ve been very different than my answer now or at least I feel I have a deeper meaning of what it means to be a mother and a greater appreciation for my Mom.
What it means to me to be a Mom is unconditional and unexplainable love for my son. I love Ryan and I love my family and friends but the way I love Ryder is so different than any other kind of love I have ever felt. It was so natural and immediate when Ryder was born. I definitely understand now what people mean by the bond between a mother and her child. What makes this love even better is that it is returned. The only way I can even think of how to explain it is this feeling of just wanting to hold Ryder and never let go. Like I said, it just can’t really be explained but if you are a mother you understand that feeling. Having unconditional love for your child/children is really what it means to me to be a mother.
Other words that describe what it means to me to be a mother are sacrifice, change, and hard-work. You don’t realize how many sacrifices you make as a mother because you are too busy being a mother. Along with sacrifices come changes. Your life is always changing but when you are a mother your life isn’t only your life anymore. You have to think about your child/children and how your decisions/choices will affect them. And of course, there’s the hard-work, the actual birth of your child is hard-work but that is only the beginning.
Finally, what it means to me to be a mother is to worry. I worried a lot before I had Ryder and now I worry way more than I ever thought possible especially when he was first born. I worry about the little things like did he take a good nap today or will he throw a fit in the car on the way home? I worry about his future. Is he going to have any friends? Is he going to struggle with school? I worry about what the world around him will become as he gets older. Now thinking like this will drive anyone crazy so I definitely have controlled my thoughts but they are still always in the back of my mind. And part of being a mom is being strong of enough to get through all those things you worry about and deal with things as they come.
Even though being a mother is hard-work, is change, is sacrifice, I wouldn’t change it for the world. The joy and happiness I get from being a mother is also unexplainable.
I LOVE BEING A MOM!!!

I have 3 rugrats plus two rugets. Richie (25) girlfriend is Kim, Michael (24) fiance is Hollie and Kelsey (19). My kids have made my heart burst with joy and at some times given me the most amazing headache! I see my life as a Mom like "the ladder of life". Each rung of the ladder has brought me such extreme emotions. From the lower rungs; when they were little tikes and some days were rough and I never thought they would end to the days that I never wanted to end because they were so great. To the top rungs of today; all of those steps and all of the ups and downs contributed to where our family is now. As a Mom I am truly blessed and am so grateful to God for all that I have.

I am the proud mother of three boys/men.
Their names and ages are as follows: Brian age 26, Greg age 25, and Mark age 21.
I always knew I wanted to be a mom some day.
I had difficulties getting pregnant with our first son. It was an extrememly frustrating 2 years and I
was afraid that I would never have a child of my own.
But I found a wonderful Doctor and we were finally blessed with a baby.
It is such an overwhelming feeling of pure love when you are first handed your newborn son, that words truly cannot
describe it.
I now understand what my mother had always said to me, "just wait till you have children of your own."
Although my "boys" are now men, I can still feel every hug and kiss they have given me.
My love for them is completely unconditional and I continue to be blessed with their love for me and each other.

To me, being a mom means happiness, pride, joy, hurting when they hurt, only wanting what's best for them, and wanting them to have a fulfilling and happy life.
In one word - Love. My kids are Andy - 27, Lydia - 25, Becky - 23, and Sarah 21. I also have step-daughters, Jenn - 40 and Erika - 38.

Mothers Day from grandma Rose Marie Steinke---I will probably be the oldest mother on your blog Lauren. And proud of it. I've been a mother for 56 years, a grandmother for 30 yrs. and a great grandmother for 5 yrs. Isn't that wonderful? YES! I had 4 kids by the time I was 25--some crazy, hectic years--but we all survived.
The greatest joy is how proud I am of how they all "turned out", the fun of seeing 11 grandchildren grow into beautiful adults, and being healthy and happy to help raise one little great granddaughter. Life is beautiful.

I loved hearing from all the moms that have been moms for a while! It is especially great to know that you still have the same feelings for your child/children even when they grow up!
